Priyanka Kumar is a visual artist based in Rhode Island whose practice brings together documentary photography and printmaking. Working across image-making, research, and archival methodologies, she investigates how photography and print can function as complementary tools for examining memory, social history, and systems of representation.

Kumar earned her Bachelor’s degree in Painting and Drawing from the prestigious Sir J.J. School of Fine Arts, Mumbai, and her Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she was awarded the Presidential Fellowship (2024–2026). Her work has been exhibited in the United States, India, and the United Kingdom, and has been featured in online publications across.

Her research-driven practice focuses on the representation of gender roles and gender-based violence in India. Drawing on documentary photography, field research, and printmaking, she creates works that examine lived experiences, cultural narratives, and structures of power around gender based crime. 

Through the production of multiples, Kumar explores the potential of printmaking to disseminate research, preserve stories, and foster dialogue across communities.
